Food Bank conducting first ever food drive on Opening Day of the NYS Fair

I think this is a FABULOUS idea!  In fact maybe in the future it can be done on all days of the Fair.  Many volunteers are needed for collection of the items so the days might be limited.

This year volunteers will be stationed at the entrance and in parking lots if you’d like to bring canned goods and non-perishable items to drop off.   Per an article on Syracuse.com, Food Bank officials said the best items to bring are:

• canned tuna

• canned beans/legumes

• dried beans/legumes

• peanut butter

• pasta-rice-grains

• cereals

• oatmeal

• soups and stews

• canned/dried fruits

• canned vegetables
