One of the most popular rock bands of all time, Foreigner, will perform on the Chevy Park stage at the Chevrolet Music Festival at the 2021 Great New York State Fair Monday, August 23 at 8 p.m. Founding member Mick Jones leads the band that scored nine Top 10 hits on the Billboard charts, including “I Want To Know What Love Is,” “Feels Like The First Time” and “Cold As Ice.” It will be the fourth appearance for Foreigner at the Fair, following shows in 1994, 2006 and 2011. All concerts are free with $3 Fair admission.
“Any list of the top rock bands includes Foreigner. They’ve created unforgettable songs that are staples of classic rock radio and Spotify and YouTube playlists worldwide. We’re so glad to have them back and I’m looking forward to a great show,” said Troy Waffner, Fair Director.
Foreigner joins a lineup of more than 50 national touring shows presented in the Chevrolet Music Festival, the largest free music festival at any state fair in America. Shows announced to date include:
Based on current state guidance, concerts are likely to take place on the Chevy Park stage in the New York Experience festival grounds. Attendance will be limited. Concertgoers will need a ticket to enter the concert area in addition to the $3 admission ticket to the Fair. Concert area tickets will be free of charge and available until the attendance limit is reached. Food and beverages will be available inside the concert area. Families and groups will be assigned to a designated area from which they can enjoy the concert. Masks will be required any time a person is outside their designated area.

The Reimagined 2021 Great New York State Fair brings back the elements fairgoers love best – food, music, rides and games, and agriculture – in an outdoor format designed to be as safe as possible. Based on current state guidance, the Fair’s buildings will not be open except for some bathrooms. To comply with limits on attendance, $3 admission tickets will only be sold online and only to the safe capacity limits of the grounds. Tickets will be good only for the date of the Fair for which it is purchased.
Safety guidance can change and prospective fairgoers are advised to follow the Fair’s social media sites, sign up for the Fair’s email newsletter, or closely follow the Fair’s website to get the latest developments.

NYS Fair Press Release:

Statement from New York State Fair Director Troy Waffner |
Today, Governor Cuomo announced that the 2020 Great New York State Fair would be canceled to ensure the health and safety of New Yorkers and all fairgoers. This is the second time in the Fair’s long history that it has been necessary to cancel the State Fair: the first was during World War II, and today in 2020, due to the Coronavirus pandemic. In both cases, the cause was just and proper: to protect people. We are proud to put on the Great New York State Fair and provide a showcase for the best of New York agriculture, but our number one concern is always the health and safety of our fairgoers, vendors and staff. Those who bought tickets for this year’s Fair during our special sale will be able to use them next year or get refunds, with details to come on that. Last year’s purchased tickets that would have been honored this year will be honored in 2021. Vendors who sent in deposits will receive full refunds. We dearly wish we could hold the Fair this year and know that one day soon we will come out of the darkness. When we do, the things we enjoy and the people we love will be there. This is a difficult chapter in our history, but it is only one chapter and the next chapter will be our best ever. We will see you next August. Until then, stay safe and be strong. – Troy |
