As the Beach Boys were my first concert a few, ok many years ago, this is definitely one concert I will be looking forward to! Songs from the album include Sloop John B, Wouldn’t It Be Nice, God Only Knows and I’m Waiting for the Day.
According to Wikipedia, Pet Sounds was the 11th studio album by the American rock band the Beach Boys, released on May 16, 1966. It initially met with a lukewarm critical and commercial response in the United States, peaking at number 10 in the Billboard 200, a significantly lower placement than the band’s preceding albums. Pet Sounds has subsequently garnered worldwide acclaim from critics and musicians alike, and is widely considered to be one of the most influential albums in music history.
The album was produced and arranged by Brian Wilson, who also wrote and composed almost all of its music. Most of the recording sessions were conducted between January and April 1966, a year after he had quit touring with the Beach Boys in order to focus more attention on writing and recording. For Pet Sounds, Wilson’s goal was to create “the greatest rock album ever made” — a personalized work with no filler tracks. It is sometimes considered a Wilson solo album, repeating the themes and ideas he had introduced with The Beach Boys Today! one year earlier. The album’s lead single, “Caroline, No”, was issued as his official solo debut. It was followed by two singles credited to the group: “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” (backed with “God Only Knows”) and “Sloop John B”.
Brian Wilson is set to perform on Monday, August 29th at 8pm at Chevy Court.
The NY State Fair announced earlier today that Snoop Dogg would not perform at Chevy Court on Wednesday, September 2nd as scheduled due to illness. Within hours, Rapper Nas was announced as the replacement act. Nas is known as one of the top rappers with iconic hip-hop hits like NY State of Mind, Nas is Like, and It Ain’t Hard to Tell.
I have to say I’m impressed with the Fair for finding a replacement on such short notice. Nice work!
It was announced today by acting fair director Troy Waffner that Jason Derulo, who wowed a large crowd at Chevy Court at last year’s NYS Fair, will perform again on the very same stage on Thursday, September 3rd at 8pm. Derulo’s planned performance is in place of Meghan Trainor, who recently cancelled her entire tour in order to undergo throat surgery.
Hi everyone! I’ve been remiss with my blog updates but I’m baaaaccck!
So, we all know that advance tickets to the Fair are on sale and by now we know that Miranda Lambert will be the debut act performing at the new Lakeview Amphitheater, located away from the NYS Fairgrounds on Thursday, September 3rd, 2015. This is the same night that Patti LaBelle is scheduled to perform the last concert EVER at the NYS Fair Grandstand – the End of an Era. It seems unfair to make fans choose but I suppose the thought process was to let folks who like Ms. LaBelle’s music enjoy her performance while the country fans (Blake Shelton fans included) pay big time to see Miranda over at the “New” place. Or perhaps Ms. Lambert’s schedule was inflexible? Whatever the case, I feel the Grandstand should have been allowed to go out with a BANG! This would in turn (in theory) create excitement for the new “replacement” venue across the highway. I’m sure in time the new amphitheater will be the “it” place for concerts but for those of us who will be in the transitional stage, however long that lasts, it kinda just sucks. 🙁 #nysfair #lakeviewampitheater #nysfairgrandstand #changesucks #nysfairchanges
